AUSTIN HEALEY 3000

When it comes to hairy-chested sportscars, the 3000 is like a toupee on wheels. The last model to come from Austin Healey before it shut up shop for good, the 3000, was the last in a line of gorgeously curvy sportsters that had started with the Healey 100 in 1952. Then Austin muscled in and the Big Healey was born. The Big Healey would become a massive hit in the US, with its simple, torquey engines and straightforward construction.

Although the Big Healeys were created lirst and loremost as road cars, they enjoyed huge success in rallying too -and still do as historic machines.

All 100 S coupes came with a 1.9-litre engine that gave the carall5mph top speed. In an eight-year production run. just 30,687 examples were built.
