This year was extremely fruitful for Opel – three new models at once! At the beginning of the year was presented crossover Mokka, then debuted baby Adam, and few days ago was declassified cabriolet Cascada.
To call Opel Cascada a new model – so sin against the truth. The car is based on the Opel Astra platform and is actually its open modification, but the fact that its name is Cascada, not Astra Twin Top.
Opel Cascada significantly outgrown Astra. And all because the car will not compete with cabriolet of golf class, but with cars on a step above. Thanks to the wheelbase has increased by 71 mm (2.70 m) and track by 56 mm front and 70 mm at the rear, Opel Cascada outgrown golf class and passed to the medium. At length the car is 4.69 m, and this, by the way, 85 mm longer than the BMW 3 Convertible.
If you dig deeper, it becomes clear that Opel Cascada has a lot in common not only with Opel Astra, but with an older sister – Opel Insignia. For example, the front suspension with an electronically bumpers, interior details, as well as the latest 1.6-liter SIDI Ecotec engine with 170 hp, which also will soon be seen under the hood of Opel Insignia.
In Europe, prices of Cascada will start from 30,800 euros.
