You’re not going to mistake the Inteceptor for anything else, with those unique lines penned by Italian styling house Vignale. The Interceptor sounded as good as it looks, too, thanks to a Chrysler-sourced 6.3-litre V8 – later bumped up to 7.2 litres – which also endowed the Jensen with the sort of pace usually only available from madly impractical sportscars. For the really well-heeled there were convertible and FF four-wheel drive editions, the latter introducing the world to the reality of anti-lock braking – as far back as 1967.
There have been various attempts to reintroduce or update the Interceptor, the latest of which is a crazy Chrysler Viper VIO-engined edition called the Viperceptor.
It looked modern, but mechanically the Interceptor borrowed much from the CV-8 it replaced. So despite a high price, there were archaic leaf springs at the rear.
