Citroen never used to be shy about producing truly innovative cars, and it was the Traction Avant that gave it this reputation, with its monocoque construction, front-wheel drive and air-cushioned engine mountings. Andre Citroen was desperate to create something that was truly different from anything else available, anywhere in the world. He certainly managed that with the Traction Avant, but unfortunately in the process, he pushed his company into bankruptcy because of the massive development costs. But what a way to go!
