Description

The Casspir Mk6 (BAE Systems RG Protector) is the latest version of the Casspir range mine protected vehicle, which is designed and manufactured by the South African Company branch of BAE Systems. The Casspir Mk6 is marketed by BAE Systems under the name of RG Protector. The Casspir Mk 6 was unveiled in August 2011. The Casspir Mk6 evolved from the reliable and renowned Casspir heritage. The latest development also incorporates experience from the battle proven RG31 (over 2400 in service) to ensure a superior and affordable APC. This battle-proven workhorse with its robust design is suitable for the harshest African conditions. COTS (Commercial-off-the-shelve) building blocks are used in the design and manufacturing for increased cost benefit, and contributing to the superior mine protection is the monocoque V-shaped hull. The Casspir Mk6 has open architecture and is offered in several variants based on a 6×6 and 4×4 model. The vehicle can accommodate up to 18 people in the 6×6 version. The straight forward utilisation of a total commercial drive train ensures affordability.
