What Does Suv Stand For?

If you have ever wondered, what does SUV mean, this should provide the answers you have been looking for. SUV is a type of car body. Is a bit of a cross between a truck and a jeep, or a van and a jeep. The SUV usually offers a significant amount of room compared to a standard jeep or small truck; four or five adults can fit into this type of vehicle comfortably. The term is Sports Utility Vehicle, shortened to the letters SUV, and can be applied to a range of similar-type cars, truck, and van type of automobile. Specifically, one description says that they are a bit like a station wagon but built on top of the chassis of a small truck. While that is an oversimplification, it gives you some idea of the space available and durability of the end result.

What does suv stand for? What makes it different than a standard truck, car, jeep, station wagon, etc. is the fact it has some features of several ordinary vehicles rather than all the features of one standard vehicle. For example, four-wheel drive as a truck might have, the towing ability of a truck (and sometimes a front-mounted winch); the seating room of a sedan sized car, and of course storage space as you might see in a minivan. Almost every car maker has an SUV model available. Some models include the Hyundai Sante Fe, Ford Escape, and Toyota Rav 4. Mid-size models include the Toyota Highlander, Ford Explorer, and Dodge Nitro. Larger SUVS models are the Ford Excursion, Chevy Tahoe, Chrysler Aspen, and Cadillac Escalade.

What does SUV mean? An SUV crossover is more of a merge between a standard SUV and a station wagon type of vehicle. Examples of this type can be found in models Mazda CX-7, Saturn Outlook, Buick Enclave, and the Ford Edge. What makes a crossover SUV different is that these vehicles will typically have the same features of an off-road vehicle, yet handle the same way a car would. Standard SUVs are built on a light truck platform, and crossover SUVs are built on car platforms. Crossover and standard SUVs both have higher ground clearance than other vehicles and larger seating capacity. The standard version starts at 8,500 pounds weight while the crossover models must be under 8,500 pounds in weight.

What is a Hatchback?

A hatchback type of car has its body configured in a way that it has a rear door that swings in an upward manner to open and provide access to the cargo area, unlike its traditionally compared to sedan that has a trunk for storage and a window at its rear with the trunk hood hinged below the window that run from the of line to beneath the rear seats. Hatchbacks may have a fold-down second row seating feature further extending the cargo area. This enables accommodation of more cargo volume. Hatchbacks may feature 2 or 3 box designs. A hatchback has less than 3 roof pillars; these are pieces of metal running from the side panel or door to the roof between windows. This is used to distinguish them from station wagons that have an additional roof pillar separating the rear panel from the roof. Hatchbacks do come in three door models; two doors and the hatch and five door models; four doors and the hatch.

Advantages and disadvantages of the hatchback

Basically the main advantage of acquiring a hatchback is the fact that it is able to transport large and oversized cargo since the rear sets can be folded down creating extra spacing for cargo. Hatchbacks do have spectacular, versatile and large cargo areas, hands down. Probably more than triple the size of that of a Sedan cargo space with the back seat folded.

Hatchbacks are also easy to maneuver with, due to their relatively small sized bonnets and boots that do not protrude.

Disadvantages of Hatchback

Depending on the vehicle hatch’s pivot point, the typical hatchback may require more space for it to open the hatch. A hatchback cannot reverse too close to a wall or another vehicle.

A hatchback too may fail to provide for the privacy of cargo in the public since it opens wide.

The hatchback also cost slightly higher in relative comparison to the sedan.

Mazda RX-7 Mark 1

By the time the first-generation RX-7 appeared in 1978, everybody else had given up on the idea of developing a rotary-engined car; even Citroen, since forced into bankruptcy, had realised the technology was fundamentally flawed. But Mazda persisted and this car worked brilliantly; fuel consumption was high, but it handled superbly even though its mechanical specification was otherwise rather ordinary. So it’s a shame that most of the first-generation RX-7s built have since rusted away.

The original RX-7 proved to be such a hit for Mazda that it produced two more generations of the model, including a twin-turbo edition with up to 276bhp.
